St Georges Church Fundraiser (click here for Arabic + Summary letter)
Dear Families and Friends,
The rebuilding committee of St Georges Church once again, would like to thank each of you for your continuous cooperation and contribution in helping the people of our hometown, Jieh, in reconstructing the St Georges Church.
Over the course of last years events and with all the political changes in Lebanon, our challenge is even greater today to keep the motivation and momentum going with this compassionate project.
We believe our ongoing support is so crucial in completing this project for the sake of our homeland and our home town families.
We are still fully motivated and committed to finish what we started 4 years ago. At this stage we have completed:
- All the structural concrete work of the church and the Church Bell Tower are finished.
- The sandstone tiling of the bell tower.
- Sandstone tiling for the main façade of the Church.
- All Electrical infrastructural work from the inside
- All Roof tiling
- And finally the Cross was mounted on top of the bell tower.
The plan for this year is to finish:
- To complete the outside Sandstone tiling
- The internal sandstone of around 1 to 2 m high around the church
- The internal fit outs of doors, windows and tiles.
The Budget Forecast for this year:
Sandstone Work ~ $40,000 USD
Internal Work ~ $100,000 USD
Bank Credit in Lebanon $52,000 USD as at 23/05/08
Bank Credit in Australia $58,000 AUD as at 23/05/08

Out of the party door collections, there would be a donation of $5,000 made to the AJCC in return to their ongoing support to our families and youth in Australia.
Please note that the AJCC would like to advise those interested in attending George Khabaz new comedy play on the 4th and 5th of July, that tickets are available through George Azzi on 0412 488 566 or any of the AJCC members.
Percentage of the profits from the tickets will go toward the AJCC funds.
